PARKINSONS CARERS SUPPORT GROUP

United Kingdom
The Parkinson’s Carers Support Group aims to provide the carer with a little time out for themselves, while meeting other people in a similar position. The ability to chat over a cuppa to other carers in an open, relaxed and safe atmosphere helps build your confidence in dealing with your caring role and enables the carer to feel both supported and less isolated.
All of the sessions revolve mainly around this peer support, but can include condition related topics by guest professionals, general information on other areas of interest (based on requests by the group members) as well as games, activities, outings and chill out time from your role as a carer.
We hope by running these sessions that you will feel more comfortable in your role, have a better understanding of the services available and how to access these, feel supported and capable of supporting others in their caring role.
The group is supported by Margaret Campbell, the group worker from Renfrewshire Carers, and meets in the Northcroft Medical Centre, 1-3pm, on the 3rd Thursday of every month. When available the Dementia nurse will pop in or will remotely help answer any questions.
