STROKE CARERS GROUP
The Stroke Carers Support Group gives Carers and Stroke survivors a chance to meet other people going through the same experiences, such as how they sought and secured professional services. This peer support is what most carers find invaluable.
The sessions are informal and revolve mainly around social chat over a cup of tea or coffee. At times professionals will be brought in to discuss particular topics relating to caring for the condition, more general information sessions on other areas of interest (as requested by the members), as well as games and activities.
The aim is to provide a nice relaxed atmosphere in which carers can share their thoughts and support each other, while at the same time taking a much needed respite from their caring role.
The group is supported by Margaret Campbell, the group worker from Renfrewshire Carers, and meets in the Renfrewshire Carers Centre, 1-3pm, on the 2nd Monday of every month, in partnership with The Stroke Association. Both groups will separate for the last hour.
